Research shows project-based learning narrows the gap in academic performance between students in high and low-income communities.
Based in Livingston, Montana, Educatio provides mixed-age, small group K-8th education with a focus on exploration and applied learning.
Together, teachers and students explore curiosity, lean in to uncertainty, and take action to realize project ideas and find solutions to real-world challenges relevant to our students and our community.
Our goal is to empower each child to become full partners in their education, investing in themselves to develop confidence, strong and dynamic relationships, and a sense of purpose and accomplishment.

Mission
To empower all children to become full partners in their education; investing in themselves to develop confidence, strong and dynamic relationships, and a sense of purpose and accomplishment.
Vision
That all students discover their unique gifts and value by building a foundation of skills, character, creative capacity, tenacity, vision, and citizenship.
It is more important than ever that we re-imagine learning environments that provide opportunities for interest-driven exploration, creativity, autonomy, collaboration and a deep trust in possibility so that kids build a 'can-do mindset' and see what they're made of. People all over the world are articulating that the skills to succeed now include excellent communication, creative capacity and agency. Project-based learning is an educational approach recognized for building these skills, producing confident students prepared to dream big dreams, and contribute to a better world as happy, healthy, fulfilled people.
Educatio provides a mixed-age, small group, K-8th education through a project-based learning approach to common core curriculum in a culture of high standards, trust, and compassion.
We strive to meet individual student needs in a small-group structure (8-10:1 student/ teacher ratio).
A project-based, experiential learning approach encourages creativity, collaboration and skill development by exploring ideas and challenges and then finding solutions through research, design, prototyping, reiteration and finally presentation of work. This design thinking process puts into practice the process fundamental to the success of a contributing and fulfilling life - working together to turn ideas into reality.

Games, play, challenges, and fun enhance the experience even
more.
This is the approach of hands-on projects and design challenge
learning. Students build deep learning that is better-retained because
students have ownership over the projects they choose. Confidence
and self-esteem come from practice, skill building, team work, and
creating products and solutions to challenges. Kids see what they're
made of and what they are capable of.
We provide students with real-world challenges that are applicable to
their lives and community. Motivated to contribute and help, students
research, design, and create solutions --- building agency, confidence,
and hope as their ideas come to life. They discover their competency,
capability, and courage for risk-taking.
Students work on their own, as well as in groups, to complete projects.
The mission-driven, group projects allow students to practice
collaboration, communication, visioning, growth mindset, project
management, and reflection.
Our goal for students is that they love coming to school each day because they feel part of a community, are free to follow their curiosity
through deep exploration and discovery, and develop autonomy and
agency through self-directed, meaningful project work.

Our goal for students is that they love coming to school each day because they feel part of a community, are free to follow their curiosity
through deep exploration and discovery, and develop autonomy and
agency through self-directed, meaningful project work.
To make this
happen, we create a culture that models and teaches the power of
language--- empathy and listening, the ability to navigate conflict, and
most importantly, skill in articulating and communicating thoughts and
emotions with kindness.
We model and encourage the following mindsets:
Gratitude over Entitlement
Peace over Winning
Authenticity over IQ
Cooperation over Competition
Inter-dependence and Community over Independence
Trust over Fear
Persistence over Immediate Gratification
Process over Product
Play over Rigid Structure
Uncertainty over Known Expectations
Student mantras will include: I’ve got this. I can do hard things. There is magic in uncertainty.
If we create a culture of trust and understanding, belief in student
ability, a ‘can-do’ attitude, willingness to do difficult things, and that
magic and excitement lies in uncertainty --- our students will feel safe to try new things, be themselves, and reach for their fullest potential.

Kids are capable of great things and nuanced understanding. Our
students will learn through a direct-instruction curriculum and apply
those concepts and understanding in launching their own ideas and vision into reality. For deep learning and better retention, it is important that reading/language and math be authentically framed in real-world engagement.
We use the Experiential Learning Education curriculum (EL
Education) and Engage NY math curriculum. Based on college and
career readiness standards, EL Education Language Arts curriculum
is a comprehensive, research-informed, core language arts program
that engages teachers and students through compelling, real-world
content. As students move from learning-to-read to reading-to-learn,
reading and writing become critical tools for the student to complete
the research, design, and reflection for each project.
While math and literacy are required for both direct instruction of
curriculum and incorporation into projects, science and history will
often be the project topic or focus. All state curriculum standards for
science and history will be met, approached in a way that students
feel and see the concepts -- the most effective and engaging way to
learn. Imagine learning about Native American culture by building a
life-size village with games, food processing, arts, and culture! And
then after experiencing that culture, students learn to become a
colonist --- ambitious, land hungry, and eager to replace the existing
culture without assimilation or respect for the people who built it.
Imagine the conversations and dialogue that this powerful learning
would create!
